Senate Historian Donald Ritchie talked about his book, Reporting from Washington: The History of the Washington Press Corps, published by Oxford University Press. He was interviewed by John Dickerson, White House Correspondent for Time magazine. Mr. Ritchie’s book chronicles news coverage in the nation’s capital since 1932, beginning with radio, print, and wire reporting services to the modern use of cable television and the Internet. The book includes profiles on columnists and journalists including: Walter Lippmann, Joseph Alsop, Drew Pearson, James “Scotty” Reston, and the Washington Post reporting team of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.

Donald Ritchie has been Associate Historian of the United States Senate for almost three decades. A past president of the Oral History Association, he is the author of Doing Oral History, American Journalists: Getting the Story, and Press Gallery: Congress and the Washington Correspondents.
