Kate Larson talked about her book Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an Ameican Hero, published by Ballantine Books. In it the author chronicled the life of one of the leaders of the Underground Railroad movement to free slaves before the Emancipation Proclamation. Ms. Larson wrote the book because she said the last adult biography written about Ms. Tubman was in 1943 and she wanted to create a new written record that included any documents and artifacts discovered in the last sixty years. Following her remarks she responded to questions from members of the audience. close
