Former Senator Sam Nunn (D-Georgia), co-chair of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, talked about national security and nuclear terrorism issues. He was a former Democratic senator from Georgia and Armed Services Committee chairman. He founded the Nuclear Threat Initiative with broadcasting executive Ted Turner in 2001 to raise awareness about the dangers of weapons of mass destruction. As a senator, Nunn worked with Senator Richard Lugar in passing legislation to help Russia and the former Soviet republics secure and destroy their excess nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Following his remarks he answered questions submitted by the audience. close
