Congressional Intervenion in Shiavo Case Members opposed to congressional action allowing federal judicial review in the case of Terry Shaivo spoke to reporters about the case, procedure by which the legislation would be considered, and constitutionality of their actions. The House had been called into special session on Sunday to act on this case involving a family dispute over Ms. Schaivo’s future. She remained hospitalized in a persistent vegetative state and several courts had issued orders to respect the husband’s claims that she would have wanted to invoke her right to die under such circumstances. close
