Moderated by Ms. Weaver, astronomers announced major findings about planets outside our solar system, known as extrasolar planets. Over 130 planets have been detected previously, by inference and mathematics, orbiting sun-like stars. Now light has been detected directly from two planets outside our solar system. Professor Charbonneau and Professor Deming explained their findings, with comments by Professor Boss. They answered reporters' questions. close
