The International Law Review at Washington College of Law hosted a day-long conference, “The Geneva Conventions and the Rules of War in the Post 9-11 and Iraq World.” The first panel, “Introduction to the Laws of War and the 21st Century Conflict,” focused on the basic issues surrounding modern armed conflict and international law, as well as the application of the Geneva Conventions in non-traditional theaters of military operation. They also talked about U.S. military doctrine, personnel training, and interpretations of the laws of war. Following their remarks the panelists answered questions from the audience. close
