NASA officials provided an overview of mission STS-114, which would be the first flight of a space shuttle since the Columbia accident. The launch of Discovery on its Return to Flight mission was scheduled for May 15 with a launch window that extended to June 3, 2005. During its 12-day mission, Discovery’s seven-member crew would test new hardware and techniques to improve Shuttle safety, as well as deliver supplies to the International Space Station. They also discussed the mission from both shuttle and station perspectives as well as the launch windows and entry constraints. close
