Mr. Naylor talked about his book, Not a Good Day to Die: The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda, published by Berkley. Operation Anaconda took place March 2, 2002 in Afghanistan’s Shahikot mountains. Mr. Naylor described being a reporter embedded with U.S. troops and being an eyewitness to the combat against al Qaeda and the Taliban there. He argued that intelligence and planning failures nearly led to the defeat of American forces but that Delta Force and SEAL commandos penetrated enemy lines and saved the mission.
