The Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing on the Defense Department fiscal year 2006 budget for defense intelligence. The witnesses focused on how the intelligence services are being restructured in order to improve battlefield intelligence. They reported how operations had been combined for greater flexibility with both human intelligence sources and technology. They are also recruiting analysts with different skills such as more emphasis on the languages needed. Questions also included the allocation of assets such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, the chain of command and resolution of conflicting missions, prisoner interrogation techniques, supporting foreign forces, airing opinions form dissenting analysts, and the capability of North Korea to launch missiles to reach the United States. close
