Mr. Pham talked about his memoir A Sense of Duty: My Father, My American Journey, published by Ballantine Books. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience.

At the age of ten, he came to the United States during the fall of Saigon with his mother and sisters. His first stop was the Fort Chaffee refugee camp in Arkansas. His father, a South Vietnamese Air Force pilot, was incarcerated for more than twelve years in communist re-education camps. After graduating from UCLA and completing Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Quang served as a helicopter pilot in Operation Desert Storm. A year later he flew U.N. personnel into Somalia. After serving in the Marines, he founded Lathian Systems, a pharmaceutical technology sales company. close
