Andrew Burstein talked about his book Jefferson’s Secrets: Death and Desire at Monticello, published by Basic Books. It examined at the private life of America’s third president and more specifically his relationship with one of his slaves, Sally Hemings. The author examined hundreds of Mr. Jefferson’s letters, journals, and personal library to find out more about the beliefs of Thomas Jefferson, private citizen. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
