Mr. Ververs spoke on the scandal in the Tennessee legislature when seven members were arrested for bribery, including the uncle of Rep. Harold Ford Jr., who is planning a Senate run in 2008 to replace Senator Bill Frist. He talked about a Los Angeles Times editorial calling for Senator Frist to step down as Majority Leader if he is wanting to run for president, citing Bob Dole’s 1996 example of the same. He said the mayor of Detroit ran a 60-second ad on the radio in his city, apologizing for improper conduct. close
