Klaus Larres is the author of Churchill’s Cold War: The Politics of Personal Diplomacy, published by Yale University Press.
“War’s End: Eyewitness to History,” a half-day symposium cosponsored by the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, took place in the Coolidge Auditorium of the Thomas Jefferson Building. Veterans from World War I through the Iraqi conflict, along with the civilians that supported them, came forward to record their personal stories and contribute personal documents for the Veterans History Project.

The second panel for “War’s End: Eyewitness to History,” a symposium commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, focused on a historical perspective of the events surrounding the end of the war. Following their remarks, participants responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. Mr. Gifford moderated the panel.
