Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held a news conference to announce the release of the fifth annual Department of State Trafficking in Persons Report in the State Department’s Press Briefing Room. Following Secretary Rice’s opening remarks, Ambassador John R. Miller, the secretary’s senior advisor on trafficking in persons, spoke to reporters about an example of “modern-day slavery.” He discussed the three-tier assignments of countries, forms of involuntary servitude, and actions taken by various countries. After his remarks, Ambassador Miller responded to questions and comments from reporters. close
