At BookExpo America 2005 in New York City, a panel discussion was held on the embargoed book review titled “The Broken Standard of Embargoed Reviews: Who Benefits?” The panelists discussed the advantages and disadvantages of holding a review of a particular book until the book’s publication date. Topics included journalistic freedom, copyright infringement, publicity campaigns, and service to the book and book review readers. The panel was moderated by Art Winslow for the National Book Critics Circle. They responded to questions from members of the audience. close
