Future of the United Nations
Some business items of the Association were conducted before and after Ambassador Eliasson’s speech.
Ambassador Eliasson, the incoming president of the United Nations General Assembly, talked about reform proposals for the United Nations. Topics included weapons of mass destruction, AIDS, organized crime, climate change, enlarging cultural gaps in economies and religions, and global independence. He also talked about having hope, and about asking for help from other organizations.
