Les Standiford talked about his book Meet You in Hell: Andrew Carnegie, Henry Clay Frick, and the Bitter Partnership That Transformed America, published by Crown. He recounted the details of the Carnegie-Frick alliance, describing both Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick as former children of poverty who turned into steel industry business tycoons. Mr. Standiford also detailed the Homestead steel strike of 1892. He described it not only as the bloodiest conflict between management and labor in U.S. history, but also the end of a friendship. He responded to questions and comments submitted by members of the audience. close
