Dominique de Villepin, the new French Prime Minister, addressed the French National Assembly, outlining the government’s program, describing France’s role in Europe and detailing proposals to reduce unemployment and stimulate the economy. In French with English translation.

French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin was appointed May 31, 2005 by French President Jacques Chirac, two days after French voters rejected the European Constitution in a popular referendum. After this address, the National Assembly voted 363-178 to approve the government program, in effect confirming his position as Prime Minister. close
