William Niskanen talked about the book he edited, After Enron: Lessons For Public Policy, published by Rowman and Littlefield Publishers. Mr. Niskanen outlined the major lessons learned from the Enron bankruptcy, describing both what led to its collapse and what he sees as the likely outcomes of federal legislation enacted in reaction to the scandal. He also talked about how to reduce the frequency and magnitude of future corporate bankruptcies. Mr. Pearlstein and Ms. Unger commented on Mr. Niskanen’s theories and offered their own. After their presentations, the participants answered audience members' questions. close
