Mr. Duenas talked about the Dominican Republic-Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). Topics include details of the agreement, the stated benefits for both the United States and Central America, the concerns of labor groups about the agreement and why states that produce sugar are opposed to CAFTA.

He talked about his reasons for supporting CAFTA for his country. Costa Rica signed onto CAFTA in January 2004 although the Costa Rican Congress has not ratified it. CAFTA has also been the source of protests from many Costa Ricans. He responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. close
