Mr. Curran talked about the cloture vote to end debate on John Bolton’s nomination to be U.S. ambassador to the U.N. He also talked about President Bush’s ability to create goodwill among congressional members, by inviting them to the White House for dinner and a movie and excluding policy discussions. The House Appropriations bills were being passed, with some exceptions. A new caucus composed of about one-quarter of the Democratic Caucus is forming the Iraq Caucus, a group committed to getting a commitment from the president to a timetable for getting U.S. troops out of Iraq. close
