Michael Gazzaniga discussed his book The Ethical Brain, published by Dana Press, with novelist Tom Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe made references to Michael Gazzaniga and Mr. Gazzaniga’s previous book, The Social Brain, in his novel I Am Charlotte Simmons. The two men talked about the ethical implications of stem cell research, early term abortion, and the removal of life support for brain-dead patients. Professor Gazzaniga also gave an overview of his research on the parts of the brain that, he says, determine our ethical decisions. They responded to questions from members of the audience. close
