The 2005 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission held a regional hearing on the list of possible closures and realignments of defense bases. Elected officials and community representatives testified about the impact of closing or realigning military installations in Maryland. The installations under consideration were Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Meade, and Maryland Air National Guard New Castle County Air Guard Base. close
