At the Port of Baltimore, President Bush spoke about his announcement the previous night of the nomination of Judge John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court. He discussed the need to protect the homeland by spending resources wisely, strengthening defenses at the most vulnerable locations, make security operations more effective, providing law enforcement better tools to stop terrorists before they strike. President Bush talked about the need to re-authorize the USA Patriot Act, which was due to be voted on later in the week. close
