The American Assembly continued its forum on “Rethinking America’s Security,” with a panel discussion of U.S. security goals. Panel members spoke on what direction the U.S. should be taking in order to maintain its national security on the global political scene and global economic markets. Issues discussed by the panel included the post-Cold War balance of power, the role of international law in American foreign policy thinking, and the influence of economic powers on American security. The American Assembly brings together approximately 60 public policy leaders to Arden House in Harriman, New York, to discuss a current topic in public policy. Through a consensus building process, the assembly determines public policy conclusions and initiatives which are published and distributed to more public policy leaders following the end of the forum. close
