In Time of War: Hitler's Terrorist Attack on America
Pierce O’Donnell talked about his book In Time of War: Hitler’s Terrorist Attack on America, published by New Press. In June of 1942, eight German spies posing as civilians, landed in America with the intention of blowing up several major buildings and rail transportation centers across the country. In his book Mr. O’Donnell chronicles how the plot unfolded and how the men were eventually turned in by one of their own before any of the attacks could take place. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt ordered the military trial that resulted in the execution of six of the eight defendants, an act which has been cited by President Bush as precedent for detaining enemy combatants in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. close
