Senator Bayh spoke at the Black Hawk County Democrats fundraising dinner at the Hudson Community Center. He talked about his political experiences and his background, including campaigning in Iowa for his father, his mother’s death, and his marriage and children. He also discussed issues such as the national debt, the trade balance, and education and foreign policy, including North Korea and the war in Iraq. He spoke about the future and invoked words of the late Robert Kennedy and President John Kennedy.

The event took place during a three-day trip to Iowa by Sen. Bayh on Aug 2-4, 2005. Sen. Bayh had stated that he was exploring a possible presidential bid in 2008, when Iowa would be an important state for early decisions. close
