Mr. Caputo and Mr. Fish debated civic education and the ways higher education can affect participation and involvement with politics and government and its meaning for society, public policy and democratic norms. Issues included the kind of commitment to civic education the nation should or should not have, what the goals of a civic education should be, and whether civic education should play a role in fostering the moral fiber of community life. The two have articles with differing points of view in the latest issue of National Civic Review. They responded to telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail from viewers. close
