President Bush talked to an annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars about military operations in Iraq. He talked about the goals and mission of forces in the country, security issues and the state of the insurgency, and his commitment to completing the task of securing Iraq. For the first time in his administration he also acknowledged the number of fatalities in the country, noting that 1864 military personnel had died in Iraq and Afghanistan during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. close
