Winston Groom talked about his book 1942: The Year That Tried Men’s Souls, published by Atlantic Monthly Press. The book recounts the year following America’s entry into World War II. The author describes the first half of the year as a disaster with more than 2,500 killed but explains that by the end of the year the way had been paved for eventual triumph. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
