Rose Guilbault talked about her book Farmworker’s Daughter: Growing Up Mexican in America, published by Heyday Books. In her memoir she recounted her childhood growing up as a Mexican immigrant in California. She explained that she became a farm worker’s daughter shortly after her mother divorced her biological father in Sonora Mexico and eventually remarried and moved to California’s Salinas Valley. Ms. Guilbault detailed her struggles to learn English and to eat the same foods and play with the same toys as her American schoolmates. Following her presentation, the author responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
