The book is a collection of letters, newspaper interviews, and other works by 19th-century self-proclaimed agnostic Robert Ingersoll. Mr. Page described Roger Ingersoll as a freethinker who supported the separation of church and state as well as the rights of both women and blacks. Mr. Page further explained that Mr. Ingersoll’s arguments on “freethought” centered on the fact that he believed the Founding Fathers agreed that religion should be kept outside government.
