The House Subcommittee on Health along with the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing titled “Assessing Public Health and the Delivery of Care in the Wake of Katrina.” Witnesses testified about the health care needs of evacuees and the obstacles in delivering care in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Congressmen expressed concerns about the need to tie medical professionals into first responder communication systems. close
