A hearing was held, titled “Hurricane Katrina: Community Rebuilding Needs and Effectiveness of Past Proposals.” The witnesses participated in a panel of three Gulf Coast state governors and another panel of representatives from organizations involved in rebuilding efforts. The first panel of governors testified on the needs of their individual states and generally supported Senator Grassley’s proposals on a strategy of tax and other business incentives to help rebuilding the economies of the affected region.
