A panel of authors who have written about and been inspired by New York City discussed how the city has influenced their work. They discussed what it means to be a New Yorker and if they could have found their stories anyplace else. Clyde Haberman moderated the discussion. There was no time for questions.

The panelists are: Black Artemis, author of Picture Me Rollin', published by NAL Trade; Edward Conlon, author of Blue Blood, published by Riverhead Books; Frank McCourt, author of Teacher Man: A Memoir, published by Scribner Pete Hamill, author of Downtown: My Manhattan, published by Little, Brown; Byron Harmon, author of Mistakes Men Make, published by Pocket Book; and Connstance Rosenblum, edited New York Stories: The Best Of The City Section Of The New York Times, published by New York University Press.
