Undersecretary Burns talked to reporters about his October 10-14 trip to Brussels and the Balkans. He spoke about what would be brought up at the NATO meeting. He also discussed the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia-Montenegro, and the rest of the Balkan states. Undersecretary Burns stated that until the war criminals, especially General Gotovina, are indicted, the United States will not support Croatia attempt to become a member of NATO. Following his remarks, the undersecretary responded to questions and comments from the reporters. close
