Mr. Bennett addressed a controversy surrounding his remarks on his syndicated radio program, “Morning in America” about race, crime and abortion. He explained the context of his remarks and said that he regretted portions of the remarks which had been widely publicized and taken out of context. He talked about the controversy, the problems of poverty and race in America, and about broader ideas of civility, politics and the marketplace of ideas at a business conference in Bakersfield, California. close
