Following brief remarks to reporters, Mr. McClellan, in often contentious exchanges, reacted to questions and comments from the reporters about a “choreographed” conversation with troops in Iraq earlier in the day, the religious beliefs of Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers, and the White House leak investigation involving columnist Judy Miller.

Mr. McClellan also spoke to reporters about President Bush’s telephone calls to foreign leaders. He also talked about the nomination of Harriet Miers to the United States Supreme Court. President Bush had called outgoing German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. He had also talked to the Presidents of Guatemala and El Salvador in response to Tropical Storm Stan. close
