Justice Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Drug Enforcement Administration officials spoke to reporters about the federal law enforcement presence in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. They talked about the dismantling of the Law Enforcement Coordinating Cell (LECC). The officials said that federal agencies would return to their original roles, but there would still be federal support of state and local law enforcement. Mr. Letten mentioned the indictment of Wendell Bailey, the first individual arrested on federal law enforcement charges. Following their remarks, the federal officials responded to questions and comments from the reporters. close
