On October 17, 2005, a symposium titled “Bench Press: The Collision of Media, Politics, Public Pressure, and an Independent Judiciary” was held at the JW Marriott Hotel. The symposium focused on the process, debate, and discussion surrounding the appointment of judges, with a focus on Supreme Court nominations.

During the opening morning panel, which was moderated by Professor Dolak, participants discussed “Lessons Learned from the Supreme Court Confirmation Process: Is the System Broken?” Following the panel, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
