The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity conducted an oversight hearing of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Witnesses testified about issues related to the management of the NFIP by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that were detailed in the upcoming Government Accountability Office (GAO) report titled “Improvements Needed to Enhance the Oversight and Management of the National Flood Insurance Program.” They also discussed the impact of the hurricanes and funding difficulties that confronted the NFIP in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
