The House approved the conference report to H.R. 2744, a $100 billion agriculture appropriation for fiscal year 2006. Among the items agreed to in the conferenced version of the bill was a higher spending for food stamps and nutrition programs, delaying implementation of country-of-origin food labeling, and maintaining the ban on prescription drugs coming from other countries, primarily Canada.

Members paid tributes to civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who died on October 24. close
