Louis Warren talked about his book Buffalo Bill’s America: William Cody and the Wild West Show, published by Knopf. William “Buffalo Bill” Cody was a Pony Express rider, Civil War soldier, trapper, buffalo hunter, actor, conservationist, entrepreneur, and Congressional Medal of Honor winner. In his book Professor Warren examined this icon of the American West and the man behind the Buffalo Bill public image. The author wrote that Buffalo Bill Cody was a controversial figure even in his time, and his contemporaries debated the amount of hyperbole surrounding Buffalo Bill. Professor Warren showed photographs of Buffalo Bill and images of the era. Following his presentation, he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
