Mr. Wilson talked about his book After the Victorians: The Decline of Britain in the World, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. In the book he chronicled the history of Britain from the death of Queen Victoria in 1901 to the beginning of the cold war in the early 1950s. Mr. Wilson, in this follow-up to his book The Victorians, detailed the country’s economic struggle following World War II as well as the cultural and political shifts that occurred during this period. He explained Britain’s role in determining the destiny of the Middle East. Following his remarks, the author responded to questions and comments submitted by members of the audience. close
