Professor Millett talked about his book The War for Korea, 1945-1950: A House Burning, published by the University Press of Kansas. The book is part of the Modern War Studies series and is volume one in a two-volume history of the Korean War. He talked about his belief that the war actually started in 1948 with the establishment of the non-communist Republic of Korea, which led to the invasion of South Korea in June of 1950 but the struggle began even earlier. Professor Millett also talked about the inherent problems of writing military history. Following his presentation, Professor Millett responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
