Representatives from Global Insight, an economic forecasting company, spoke at a seminar about the November 4 release of The Economic Impact of Wal-Mart, which focused on Wal-Mart’s impact on the U.S. economy and on individual communities. Mr. Holling said that the chain’s low prices were not from driving down wages, but from economic efficiencies. Members of the presentation panel addressed why benefits were not included in the wages studied and maintained that the study was conducted independently. Following their remarks, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
