Mental health experts, military experts, and Veterans Affairs officials participated in a panel discussion on lessons learned from the Vietnam generation for veteran rehabilitation and how those lessons apply to the treatment of new veterans. They discussed the psychological toll of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom as well as a bill to increase federal spending on mental health treatment. Members of the panel also examined assumptions and underpinnings associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
