Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper introduced a motion of no confidence in the Canadian government. Following Mr. Harper’s statement and some questions from members, government House Leader Valeri responded on behalf of the Liberal government of Prime Minister Paul Martin. Other speakers included leaders of the two other political parties who are joining the Conservatives in opposition to the government. A vote on this motion is expected on the evening of November 28, and it is predicted it will pass, leading to the fall of the government and a general election in Canada in January.
