Stephen Hunter talked about his book American Gunfight: The Plot to Kill Harry Truman--and the Shoot-Out that Stopped It, published by Simon and Schuster. With journalist John Bainbridge, Jr., Mr. Hunter researched and co-authored a book about the November 1, 1950 assassination plot against then President Harry Truman. The assassination attempt resulted in a 38 second gunfight near the White House between two Puerto Rican nationalists and seven men protecting the president. Following his remarks, Mr. Hunter responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. The event was held at the Decatur Library, the main library in the DeKalb County Public Library system.
