Officials spoke to reporters about the expected return of the Stardust capsule carrying interstellar dust particles from the comet Wild 2. Professor Brownlee explained the use of the dust collector, which used a low-density substance called aerogel to capture grains of dust emitted by the comet. Following their remarks, the officials responded to questions and comments from the reporters. Mr. Brown moderated the event.

The capsule is expected to land at the U.S. Air Force Utah Test and Training Range at 5:12 A.M. EST on January 15, 2006. close
